When the going gets tough the tough get inventive. Phuket’s Indigo Pearl Resort, on quiet Nai Yang Beach is offering a new twist on pricing for those who book one of its new Retail Therapy packages.

The Retail Therapy packages see the resort teaming up with the Central Festival mall, but also with some lesser-known high-end shops.

“Tourists often visit Phuket because of the sun, sand and the beautiful sea,” Arnaud Girodon, Indigo Pearl’s General Manager, explains. “However, Phuket is more than just an island paradise; it is also a brilliant shopping destination.

On arrival at the resort, guests will get a booklet holding an Indigo Pearl Discount Card, used to obtain discounts of up to 30 percent at the shops; a list of the Indigo Pearl Retail Partner outlets and the discounts available at each shop; and a map of Phuket, showing where the Retail Partners are located.

Retail Therapy Lux: Priced from USD 333 to USD 802 for two nights or  from USD 490 to USD 1,172 for three nights. The package includes options for accommodation in the Pearl Bed Suite, Private Garden Pavilions, Private Pool Pavilions, or the Pearl Shell Suites.

Both packages include complimentary airport transfers, breakfast, 20 percent discounts on Indigo Pearl’s spa treatments, spa products and in The Stockroom, the resort’s shop. Guests who opt for the Lux package also get free butler services. The Retail Therapy packages are available from now until 31 October, 2009.

The Indigo Pearl has gathered a formidable reputation for its unusual design by Bill Bensley, who was commissioned to redesign the hotel to reflect the owning family’s history in Phuket’s tin mining industry. The result is a stunning combination of five-star with nuts, bolts and wrenches. Even if you don’t stay there, it’s worth a visit for a meal or a cocktail, just to admire the unique way the theme is handled.
