Local ladies tuned out in their very best traditional outfits and lots and lots of jewellery for the second Phuket Traditional Costumes Contest at the Provincial Museum near the Heroines monument today (August 8).

The competition was split into four age groups – 7 to 15, 16 to 30, 31 to 45 and over 45, and attracted about 20 entrants. Rather than try to describe the event any further, we reckon the pictures tell the story.

I was there too; the first time I had seen these splendid costumes – especially the Muslim styles. The event took up almost all the memory in my camera.

Good to hear from a fellow writer, even if I can’t actually read your blog…
