A bit of a drama at Mom Tri’s
Mom Tri’s Villa Royal, above the rocks at the north end of Kata Noi, will be the venue for amateur dramatics and fine food on April 23, when the Andaman Players perform the première of their latest thespian work. L-O-V-E is a Four-Letter Word.

To go with your king crab salad, grilled seafood, dark chocolate marquise, Merlot and Chardonnay, here’s what the Players say you can expect:
Act 1: Romantic love in music and poetry.
Act 2 (according to the Players’ notes: “throws L-O-V-E into full satirical swing with a jaunt into the dark recesses of the human psyche, traversing the complexities of deviance, cross dressing, homo-erotica, monogamy, polygamy, sex for money and three-in-a-bed romps confessed on a psychiatrist’s couch.”
Act 3: “attempts to find a conclusion about the impossible topic of love by offering some intellectual clarity as well ageless poetry, modern dance and popular songs.” These include a Phuketian remake of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Street Where You Live, renamed Soi Where They Dig; and Vasopressin, a comedy sketch in which a father and son discuss that first ever jolt of love and what it means. Parental advisory: rude words and anatomical descriptions included.
The entertainment was written by members of the cast and is directed by Michael Flynn. The Andaman Players started up four or five years ago and have since staged a variety of drama, ranging from murder mysteries to comedy and including, most recently, a Christmas pantomime based on the story of Sinbad.
The evening, which costs B2,250 per person, includes a welcome glass of wine, the meal with wine, and the entertainment. Tickets are available only in advance – none on the door.
